Interview with Photographer Grant Yoshino

As the camera comes into focus, so does the scene. Everything has serendipitously come together and a picture, proof that perfection can never truly be duplicated, is taken. Not only is Grant Yoshino a Japanese-American fashion photographer, he is also an avid movie fanatic. Yoshino was inspired by master directors such as Takashi Miike, Wong Kar-Wai, Martin Scorsese, and Alfred Hitchcock, who made some of the most terrifying, suspenseful, and bone-chilling movies in film history. Yoshino’s hobby transcends into his photography as he taps into his inner filmmaker by creating what he calls a “short film in a picture.” What Yoshino loves most about his Japanese heritage are the over-the-top horror films they produce which he attests are “completely insane and great for inspiration for darker [editorial] stories.”
