Our member spotlight of the week is Yifei Gu, a fashion photographer recently graduated from Academy of Art University and have been shooting for several lookbooks, ads, and fashion editorials.
ASTONISH: What inspired you to become a photographer?
YIFEI: I studied painting, sculpture, film, and other art-related subjects. However, the most attractive subject for me was photography. You have to capture memory, visualize all creative thinking, or express your own aesthetics only in one shot.
ASTONISH: What does creativity mean to you?
YIFEI: Creativity means everything to me. In the world where anyone can take a picture, creativity is the key to push my images beyond what I expected. I created a visual storytelling in my head before drawing on a paper and finding a team to work with. Creativity is a big part in every step of my photography.
ASTONISH: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
YIFEI: I never stop exploring new ways of shooting. In 5 years I will create stronger fashion images inspired by people, places and everything around me. I wish my images will inspire other people too. I want to own a photography studio, and shoot fashion editorial for fashion magazines and well-known fashion brands.
