Winner of the 2011 Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Fashion Awards: Menswear Designer of the Year, Michael Bastian first launched his line in 2006 with only men’s wear. Four years later on, Michael Bastian has expanded GANT by Michael Bastian to include womenswear and also distributed in 60 countries worldwide. GANT also has a passion for responsible fashion, with a concern for the key social and environmental aspects of sustainability and ensuring that the clothes are free from hazardous chemicals from suppliers. This year’s collection is inspired by the Galapagos Islands and carried on a voyager theme that included technical gear (i.e. nylon windbreakers with Aertex linings), Ecuadorian-print influenced knits, lace-up khaki shirtdresses, Baja hoodies, and camouflage cargo pants.
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week: Falguni & Shane Peacock Spring/Summer 2013
Photographs by Brawlio Elias
We love designers who follow their own set of rules. Falguni & Shane Peacock belong in this category. FSP is known for their audacious, theatrical sensibility and body conscious silhouettes embellished with hand beading, feather accents, original prints, and laser cut detailing. The inspiration for this year: Space-age Rockstar meets Cyber-Couture, in which the collection takes a futuristic approach transforming classic silhouettes and clean minimalistic shapes with high tech fabrications. We know for a fact that this ties in with the Falguni & Shane Peacock philosophy of “life’s too short to blend in.”
