  5. Video: Black V Fashion Show Intro

Black V Fashion Show: Introduction Video

    Written by Whitney Giles
San Francisco, known for its laid-back cool style, served as an ideal location for the Black V video shoot. The set included truly unique SF locations such as the Muni stop across the Ferry Building, Union Square, and the Le Burge’t Salon (made possible by Kristine Burge’t/Miss K). The models, striking in head-to-toe black, depicted different styles worn by the city’s most fashionable. Local Bay Area designers Acta Non Verba, Cari Borja, D’Homme, Daniel Sudar, Gail Shrive, Kate Knuvelder, Ken Chen and Zoe Hong were featured exclusively, fitting Black V’s SF-centric theme. Across from the historic Ferry Building, the models were shown commuting on the trains in the “future heirlooms” descriptive of Hong’s statement pieces. Another shot portrayed skateboarders in the city donning Kate Knuvelder’s loud necklaces created from leather and chain mail. In Union Square the shoot caused a stir as tourists hummed around with curiousity to see these beautiful people in black, walking in the shape of a V. Flowing drapery and structured tailoring from D’homme against Borjas’ bias-cut, “Dracula”-themed clothing and Shrives’ use of denim and Lycra fabrics created a story of sophistication with serious edge. The looks stood out in correspondence to the stylish effect of the city as they walked through a crowd in the streets of San Francisco.
