Boris Bidjan Sabri F/W 2013
Boris Bidjan Saberi Fall/Winter 2013 Collection
By Samantha Wright
Ready for this? Boris Bidjan Saberi is an edgy and irreverent half-German, half-Persian designer based in Spain. At age 18 Boris was doing intricate customization work for Levi’s Vintage. By the time he was 25, he had created his own leather accessories company named “UCanFuckW,” proving that he values a more rough-and-tumble approach to fashion. From his earliest beginnings in 2007, he was invited to premiere his first men’s wear collection at Paris Fashion Week. His most recent F/W show makes it easy for us to get a sense of his gritty, urban aesthetic. While his show is mostly dominated by basic black components, BBS does embrace the current black and white trend taking over the fashion world by incorporating a graphic black and white print on a select few pieces. He also embraces the use of strong materials: thicker wools, lots of leather, and an intermingling of synthetic fabrics. Even though he is often inspired by “street/skate” culture, this collection takes a step in a more structured direction. There are slacks, blazers, and coats that (almost) any super-hip, working male could rock. There are even some slick skullcaps and skirts for the most daring young gentlemen.
